Akshara Murty, The First Lady Of The UK, Is Richer Than Queen Elizabeth

Akshara Murty was recently in the news for her impeccable fashion statements and appearances at the G20 summit in India. But did you know her net worth is much higher than the late Queen Elizabeth II?

According to 2022 reports, Murthy holds shares worth around a billion dollars in Infosys, a tech giant co-founded by her father, NR Narayana Murthy. In comparison, the net worth of the late queen was estimated to be 350 million pounds or 460 million dollars. She and her husband also became the 222nd richest person in Britain, according to the Sunday Times Rich List of 2022.

Founded in 1981, Infosys was a driving force in the transformation of India. With enormous outsourcing, the company changed India into the “back office of the world.” It was the first Indian company to list on Wall Street. Akshara Murthy’s mother, Sudha Murthy, is also a well-known engineer, author, and philanthropist.

Earlier in 2023, there was a significant drop in the share values of Infosys. Still, Akshara Murthy and her husband continue to be the wealthiest couple in Britain.

Nevertheless, along with holding shares in Infosys, Akshara Murthy is also the director of Catamaran Ventures. It is a venture capital company she started with her husband, Rishi Sunak, in 2013.

Further, she has shares in many companies like New & Lingwood, Bloom & Wild, Jamie Oliver’s Pizzeria, and Wendy’s restaurants in India.

Murthy owns at least four properties with her husband. The most talked-about properties of the first couple of the UK have been a flat in Santa Monica, California, and a “five-bedroom house in upscale Kensington.” The house in Kensington is said to be worth around 7 million pounds. In 2023, the estimated worth of the four properties owned by the couple is around 18.3 million dollars.

In 2022, Murthy acknowledged that she “is treated as non-domiciled for UK tax purposes.” Many people argue that the rise in her wealth is due to how she could avoid tax liabilities. But the couple, especially the UK prime minister, sees this as a smearing campaign against his wife to attack him.
