Born to her parents, a nurse and a truck driver, Rachel McAdams is the oldest among two other siblings of hers. She is a younger brother and a sister. The actress has Welsh, Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry

Growing up, Rachel was a competitive figure skater since she was four years old. She used to figure skate till the age of 18, she won many many regional awards. Rather than academics, McAdams was very much active in sports like soccer, volleyball, and badminton, she also used to work at McDonald’s three years in a row during summer vacations. 

McAdams became interested in acting since seven years old, but that was something not encouraged by her parents, so she went on her own to participate in school plays. She also attended Original Kids Theatre Company, London Productions. 

She went to York University, where she studied cultural studies, and she graduated with an honors degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2001.

After graduating, she made her debut in acting in a television series on MTV called Shotgun Love Dolls; she also made her film debut with the film My Name is Tanino. In 2002, she starred in a film called Perfect Pie, for which she won a Genie Award. 

2002 was the same year when she made her Hollywood debut with the comedy film The Hot Chick. The film became a milestone for her career here in Hollywood. But the breakthrough film in her career was definitely Mean Girls, where she played the queen bee herself, Regina George. 

The film was also the debut film for Amanda Seyfried, the film became highly popular among both the audience and critics. It launched a bright career ahead not for Rachel McAdams but also for Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert. Mean Girls is regarded as the “Greatest Ever High School Movies.“

Although that was not the only highlight that year, Rachel McAdams played the character of Allie Hamilton in the romantic drama of Nicholas Sparks’ Notebook. She was paired with the handsome fellow Canadian actor Ryan Gosling. The film was a huge hit and became one of the biggest films in their careers. 

Rachel McAdams movies like Wedding Crashers, Red Eye, and The Family Stone, where she acted alongside actors like Diane Keaton and Sarah Jessica Parker. During a two-year period between 2006 and 2007, Rachel McAdam took two years to break from acting.
