Early Life
The love for football became a part of Amandine’s life due to her family, mainly from her father, who was an amateur football player himself. She used to play with her cousins, who were also members of the Lille training academy.
When Amandine was only 5 years old, she started playing football with the boy’s team till she was 13 years old due to a lack of girls’ teams.
From 1995 to 2000, she played for the club OSM Lomme and then from 2000 to 2004, Amandine Henry was associated with the Iris Club de Lambersart.
Career in Football
Amandine started her professional career when she was only 15 years old with the Feminin Henin-Beaumont football club. But only a year later, she moved to CNFE Clairefontaine academy for intensive training for two seasons.
After her training was over, she came back to Olympique Lyonnais Feminin (Lyon), and she stayed there from 2007 to 2016. At the age of 18, Henry suffered a knee injury where she injured her cartilage; she had to pause her game and recover for one and a half years.
With her family’s unlimited support and motivation, Amandine returned to Lyon again. For two years, from 2010 to 2012, she played in the final game of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for Lyon as a defensive midfielder.
In 2015, Henry was awarded the title of 2nd Best Player at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. In 2016, after leaving Lyon, Henry joined Portland Thorns; with them, she played about 8 matches, and then in the 9th season, they won the title of the National Women’s Soccer League team.
After her surgery, she joined PSG, Paris Saint-Germain, in 2017; with them, she played four Division 1 matches and a Coupe de France Feminine; this was before she joined the Thorns again in March.
