Hyderabad Woman Found Starving On Street In Chicago, Mother Seeks Help From Jaishankar
Recently a video got viral showing an Indian woman was seen starving while on the streets in Chicago, US. The woman is from Hyderabad; her name is Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi; she went to the United States to complete her master’s degree in Information Science from TRINE University, Detroit.
The video showed her in desolate conditions on the streets of Chicago. In the video, it was seen that she was having difficulty even remembering her first name. Although she remembered afterward, she looked highly malnourished, dehydrated, and depressed. The man who uploaded the video gave her food and water.
Her mother appealed to the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asking for immediate help. The spokesperson of Majlis Bachao Tahreek raised awareness of her situation over Twitter, saying, “Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi from Hyd went to pursue MS from TRINE University, Detroit was found in a very bad condition in Chicago, her mother appealed Dr S Jaishankar to bring back her daughter.”
The letter that her mother, Sayeda Wahaj Fatima, wrote to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “My daughter Syeda Lulu MInhaj Zaidi, a resident of Maula Ali in Telangana, went to pursue her Masters in Information Science form TRINE University, Detroit, USA during August 2021 and was often in touch with us.
Since the past two months, she has not been in touch with me, and recently we came to know through two Hyderabad youths that my daughter is in depression, and someone stole her belongings, which left her to starvation. My daughter was spotted on the roads of Chicago in the USA.”
She further pleaded, saying, “It is requested to kindly as the embassy of India, Washington DC, USA, and Indian Consulate in Chicago, USA to immediately interfere and bring back my daughter as soon as possible back to India. Necessary action taken in this regard may be informed.”
